Whispering Canyon Cafe

January 21, 2010

If you drop your fork, they might replace it with one that's easier to hold on to!

My family goes to WDW pretty often, and this is the one restaurant that we do again and again. We wouldn’t think of coming to Disney without a night out at Whispering Canyon. It’s not exactly a character meal, but the wait staff could definitely be considered characters.
It’s inside the beautiful Wilderness Lodge. One of the prettiest resorts at WDW, in my opinion.

We like to plan a meal here when we are visiting the Magic Kingdom. We just take a boat from the Magic Kingdom to the Wilderness Lodge. It’s a great break from the hectic pace of the park. The resort is beautiful, so plan a little extra time to explore.
The food here at Whispering Canyon is certainly plentiful. You will leave stuffed! Since we always do the Disney Dining Plan, my husband never hesitates to order some huge plate of barbecued meats, the Canyon skillet, I believe it’s called. I enjoy the vegetarian option. Last time I went, it was a quinoa burrito, I’m thinking. And, I really enjoyed it. To get a look at their menu, or any of the WDW restaurant menus, go to www.allears.net They are a wealth of Disney info. Even though the food is pretty good, you are here for the atmosphere. The kids get to take part in a broom stick horse round-up type thing that’s a lot of fun. The wait staff teases throughout the meal and they are what make this restaurant so special. Prepare to get picked on throughout the meal. There’s no way to eat here without dissolving into giggles. Be sure and ask for ketchup. They’ll make sure you get plenty. Even if you don’t need any, ask for it. You won’t be disappointed! I’ve also heard that talking on a mobile phone during dinner can get you in trouble. 😉

This is how you look when you're six and someone finds you a wife!

The last time we were there, our server found my boys some “wives” and like most little boys, they tried to crawl under the table. My youngest dropped his fork. And they replaced it alright!
I cannot recommend this dining experience enough. Not necessarily because of the food, though it’s good, but because of the whole experience. It’s not one you’ll soon forget!
