Oh Baby, Baby It’s a Wild World!

Look who I caught hanging out in my backyard.

Isn’t she lovely?

And guess who she brought along!

She was just as pretty as her mother.  And I was envious of how fast her mom got her figure back.  Her baby was still wobbling around and her tummy looks as taught as ever.  I never was one of those girls.

Mama looked a little anxious every time her fawn got more than a couple of steps from her.  She was watchful and careful and looking out for any danger.  Her baby, in the meantime was exploring without a care in the world.  Not nearly grateful enough that mom had her back.  I bet she doesn’t know half the stuff her mom does for her.

For a minute, I thought, I am the mama deer.  Yes, she’s me.  She’s watching out for the safety of her little one and knows all the dangers, while little one is just beebopping along without a care in the world!  Yes! I am that mama deer!

And as I watched just a little longer, I thought, well…….

Maybe, I’m that baby deer.

I’m the one that shuffles through life, not always paying attention.  And I’m not nearly grateful enough that my Father in heaven has my back.   Sometimes, a couple of visitors can make us realize how fortunate we are!

******The quality of these pictures is kind of rotten.  Sorry! I was in the house trying to stand really still so that I didn’t spook this pair! I don’t think National Geographic is going to be offering me any jobs!

This is the first post I’ve read this morning, and it made me so happy!! I love when God sends us little reminders to “stop and smell the flowers” 🙂

Don’t they just take your breath away? I was out running a year ago down by my son’s school, when 3 deer ran across the empty stretch of road just ahead of me, jumping a fence with such ease. I’d been grumbling to myself about how much I wanted to turn around and go home, but then the deer appeared and quite literally stopped me in my tracks. Made my run a lot easier after that!

Looks just like Bambi 🙂 I think the pictures are just fine. Love how you changed it up to say you are the baby deer. I’m right with you.

What a beautiful message. And I must say that you live in the coolest place ever! Near a beach AND deer? I’m officially jealous!

Nice backyard! I love the spots on the baby. And, as always, very good analogy.

One thing I am learning about photography is that it isn’t always the quality that matters but the capture. And this is a great capture! How cool that you took these from inside your house.

I love seeing fawns…they are too precious, especially when they still have their spots.

I certainly love living in the country.

    Great pics/post!

Don’t apologize for the pictures. They’re extraordinary! How fortunate you are to have such beauty in your backyard. And your message was just as beautiful.

I love little spotted fawns. So stinking CUTE.

    Simply lovely!

They are gorgeous! How awesome that you could see that out your back door! I agree with you. I can relate to being both the mama deer and the baby deer. It is easy to get so caught up in being the mom, that you forget that someone else can and does have your back too. Wonderful message!

Those are beautiful pics. I wish I lived somewhere where I could see that.

WOW! What a beautiful backyard! And your little visitors are beautiful too! We mostly see rabbits, fox, and sometimes raccoons in our backyard, but nothing as pretty as what you have right there.
